Tech Tip No. 2

In our last Tech Tip, we discussed the Windows Logo Key.  One of the shortcuts was the Run Dialog:

The Run Dialog allows you type a number of different commands to get them started without having to navigate through the Start menu.  This is a quite a bit faster when you know what you want to run.  Typical commands are things like "notepad" or "calc".

This dialog can also be opened using the Start Menu and then clicking on Run.  This is not readily available in Windows Vista unless you are using "Classic" menus, which most people are not.

The Run Dialog looks like this:

Here is a more complete list of the commands for items that are used on a somewhat regular basis.  Some of these can be a bit tricky to find or slow to access through the menu.  There is a short list of games that come with Windows as well for those of you that like them.

Note: The commands marked with a '*' do not work in Windows Vista.
